New energy efficient Marl LED lighting provides 1-2 year
Marl International has just released its most efficient ever range of high performance white LED lights, providing energy savings of 20% to 60% against conventional lighting technologies in applications like industrial, office and warehouse internal lighting, security and event floodlighting, street lighting and other applications. The key feature of the new Marl Bay Range is its efficiency of 83-94 lumens/watt from a 110V-277V AC mains supply. For example, the 770 series light generates up to 8,800 lumens from a 94W supply, making it amongst the most efficient light sources available. Bay Range LED lighting is very directional, so that all of the light created illuminates the target area and there are no UV emissions, further enhancing efficiency. Bay range lights are offered with a choice of narrow (23°) or wide (50°) beam angles.
Commenting on the release of the Bay Range, Marl Managing Director, Adrian Rawlinson, said, "LED technology has moved forward rapidly even in the last few months, and more efficient light engines allow the creation of much brighter luminaires without excessive heat generation. Marl’s designers have exploited these characteristics to the full, creating a range that makes energy efficient LED lighting a viable option for the most intense illumination applications such as street lighting, flood lighting and even photographic studio lighting as well as more standard interior or exterior industrial and office lighting applications."He continued, "The new Bay Range is amongst the most energy efficient lighting available for industrial and office premises, and provides an instant, convenient and highly controllable source of light.
The first products in the Bay Range to be released are the 770, 771 and 778 series. The 770 series are square units with 2 or 3 LED modules offered in Cool White, Neutral White or Warm White form. For high bay applications, Marl is offering the 778 series, featuring six LED modules as well as the 771 series for long bay applications. All three offer the same exceptional efficiency and operate direct from a standard European or US mains electrical supply. The Marl Bay Range has been built using the latest high efficiency, high brightness Cree and LumiLEDS LED light engines.Colour renditioning for all lights is very good, and each product is offered in a choice of cool or natural white colour temperatures. The lights can be readily integrated with dusk to dawn and motion sensors, and are offered with optional 1 to 10 volt dimming control lines. Most are sealed to IP67 standards, rendering them suitable for most indoor and outdoor applications.

Use of customizable LED lights to increase in car interiors
Automakers who are dabbling in ambient lighting are preparing to dive into greater use of LED technology as a way to both create a distinctive brand identity inside the vehicle and to meet customer demand, according to automotive suppliers at the WardsAuto Interiors Conference in Dearborn. In recent years, automakers have begun to embrace the use of ambient lighting around cup holders and in the dashboard as the cost of the technology has declined."In the past, the ideas were there, the illumination was known and the power consumption was less and there were a lot of advantages to use LEDs, even for headlights, but it was just too expensive," said Gerhard Fleischmann, engineering director for Lear's global lighting relationships with German automakers. "Now the technology…the cost of the technology is affordable."
Inside the car, automakers are using LED, or light-emitting diodes, to enhance their brand image, while buyers look for improved ambient, or "mood," lighting."It's in its infancy," said Rick Comiskey, senior account manager for OPTIS North America. "In the future, it will become much more brand-focused."Comiskey said some automakers are even considering sconces in the headliners of cars that can be adjusted to customized colors and lighting levels instead of the standard, single light in the center of a headliner.PRUF LED Technology to Help Light Up the Darkness in Northern Uganda.Enhancing the automaker's brand identity "is one of the most important arguments to have ambient lighting," Fleishmann said.
Lear, in an online survey conducted earlier this year, found that 66% of customers are interested in being able to customize the colors and lighting levels inside their cars and trucks.
Areas of interest include the instrument panel, storage compartments, center consoles, seats, ceilings, doors and flooring.Still, for LED lighting to be affordable, Fleischmann said, automakers must adopt LED lighting modules across multiple models because the manufacturing costs decline as volume increases.
A provider of lighting fixtures, control devices, components, systems and services, Acuity Brands' products serve commercial and institutional, industrial, infrastructure and residential applications for various markets throughout North America as well as select international markets. Back in April, Acuity Brands reported second quarter revenue that was 10% higher year over year and ahead of analysts estimates but analysts also noticed that cost of goods sold rose 9% and operating costs rose 8%. Nevertheless, Acuity Brands believes it will outperform the total lighting market growth which should come in at the low to mid-single digits for the rest of the company's fiscal year. On Friday, Acuity Brands fell 1.41% to $49.77 (AYI has a 52 week trading range of $33.13 to $64.82 a share) for a market cap of $2.11 billion.

The use of LED lamps for the growth and photosynthesis of plants
Today, we can not imagine modern society without the widespread use of light. Working or
educational institutions, municipal facilities, industrial and manufacturing enterprises, transport, as well as agriculture - all these can not function without lights. No artificial lighting also can not do any one sector of the economy. At the present time to replace the standard incandescent, fluorescent, mercury and sodium lamps have increasingly bright LED lighting. The tendency of the transition to LEDs as clearly seen in modern industry and agriculture.
In the XVIII century, scientists discovered the process of photosynthesis. Photosynthesis - the process is the main activity of plants responsible for their growth and development. Office of photosynthesis - the most effective way to impact on productivity and yield of plants. Russian scientist Timiryazev proved that the energy source for photosynthesis is predominantly long-wave part of the spectrum (red light), and the effect of short-wavelength (blue-green) is less significant.
At present, to illuminate the plants used are adapted for Crop high pressure sodium lamps. We all know that sodium lamps uneconomical, short-lived. Modern LED fitolampy plants are able to provide more relevant range of agricultural lamp spectrum of photosynthesis.Germany's DEL-ko has developed LED lampa LED Spot E27 PAR38 red and blue spectrum light for small plants. Optimum ratio of red (144 pcs) and blue (18 pcs) diodes LED lamps for plant photosynthesis in plants provides a good in different periods of their growth.Luminescence occurs when the electron-hole recombination in the pn-junction. So, first of all need a pn-junction, then there is contact between two semiconductors with different types of conductivity. To do this, the contact layer of a semiconductor crystal doped by different impurities: on one side of the acceptor, on the other - donor. But not all the pn-junction emits light. Why? First, the bandgap in the active region of LEDs should be close to the energy of photons in the visible range. Secondly, the probability of radiation during the recombination of electron-hole pairs must be high, for which a semiconductor crystal must contain few defects, due to which recombination occurs without radiation. These conditions are more or less contradict each other.Really, to comply with both conditions, a single p-n junction in the crystal is not enough, and you have to make multi-layered semiconductor structures.
